Shared costs

Split the trip's costs without a spreadsheet afterwards

Log what you spend on the trip as it happens, split it between the people who shared it, and see who owes whom before anyone asks. Budgets and settling up are included on the free plan.

  1. During the trip

    Log it in the currency you paid in

    Add an expense in any currency and Nzendo converts it to the trip's currency. Photograph a receipt and the amount, currency, date, and category are filled in for you to check; each scan uses one Smart Import from your monthly allowance.

    Split it evenly or by exact amounts, between everyone or only the people who were there.

  2. At the end

    Settle up from the same record

    Settle Up shows what you owe each person for the things you shared with them, or the same total in the fewest payments. Mark a payment as made or received, remind someone, or open their Revolut, PayPal, or Venmo link if they have added one. Marked the wrong one? Undo it.

Fair to the people who were not holding the card

Splitting is where group trips get awkward. These are the parts that keep it civil.

Question an expense

Anyone in a split can question an expense that looks wrong. It stays out of the totals until the person who paid, the person who logged it, or the trip owner keeps it, changes the split, or leaves it out.

Only what you shared

By default you only owe people for the expenses you were part of, so nobody is asked to pay back someone they never shared a meal with.

A budget before you spend it

Set a total and a plan per category, and follow what is left and a suggested daily spend as the trip goes on.

Still open after the trip

Archiving a trip closes the planning, not the numbers. Late expenses and repayments can still be added.

Questions about shared costs

Does Nzendo move the money?

No. It works out who owes whom and links to the payment apps people already use. You mark a payment once it is made.

Can I log an expense without a signal?

Yes on Premium, which saves it and sends it when you reconnect. Paying someone back needs a connection.

Does everyone see the budget?

Not necessarily. Access to the trip's finances is set for each person when they are invited.
